Included in the Provincial budget for 2009, the STARS project is a brainchild project of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Provincial SMED Council. The project desires to conduct a Skills Training Program that will ultimately provide self-employment opportunities to capable and qualified individuals who are unemployed in the 1,109 barangays in the province and expected to generate 22,180 self-employment opportunities. The Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), together with the Provincial Government of Bohol, Rotary Club of Tagbilaran, and Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop sponsored a free medical and dental mission last October 5, 2007 for the inmates of the Bohol Detention & Rehabilitation Center (BDRC). A total of 253 inmates, visiting spouses and children benefited the free medical and dental clinic, 183 medical patients and 70 were dental patients. After the half day event , Rotary Club President Louella “Baby” Bantol, BCCI President Norris Oculam and BBCI Trustee Dinah Ramiro dared to go inside the Prison Compound, a maximum security area without hesitation to jam with the band of the BDRC inmates.
