True to its mission to integrate in its activities, the social responsibilities towards the community, the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (BCCI) responded with its heart to the immediate and urgent needs of the St. Bernard mudslide victims in Leyte province.

The chamber as it always sets itself in the mainstream of community service, has dedicated several medical-dental missions in the past and recent years.

This year, however, the chamber allotted the amount to extend aid for the urgent needs of the unfortunate Filipino brothers and sisters who succumbed in the devastation brought by the mudslide tragedy in St. Bernard, Southern Leyte.

BCCI donated the amount of P20,000.00 to complete the funds raised by “Operation Tabang Para sa Leyte” of dyRD, dyZD and the Bohol Chronicle that raised P347,423 for the victims.

The said amount was turned over to the Diocese of Maasin under Bishop Precioso Cantillas. Aside from the amount, two truckloads of used clothing boarded on MV Our Lady of Carmel, were also bundled for the victims.

The provincial government has provided the dump trucks that brought the relief goods to Leyte province. The management of MV Our Lady of Carmel offered free freight services for the two dump trucks as arranged by PPA Ubay.

On the part of the BCCI, the concerted effort and cooperative value of extending help to the unfortunate victims of any tragedies and disasters are the true life-blood of heartfelt nationalism and genuine love for mankind.
